Former Probation Officer Indicted

EATON, Ohio -- A Preble County grand jury indicted a former probation officer
with two counts of sexual battery after he was accused of having sexual
relations with a 17-year-old under his control.


In May 2004, Eaton police detectives, along with a prosecutor from the Preble
County Common Pleas Court launched an investigation into allegations of sexual
misconduct by a public official. Authorities said they launched an
investigation against Douglas E. Moore, 32, of Eaton who was a probation
officer with the Preble County Juvenile Court.


According to detectives, the victim, a male teen, at the time of the alleged
violation had been placed under the supervision of Moore while on probation.
Police said the alleged offenses happened in May or June 2000.


Investigators said during the investigation, a search warrant was conducted of
Moore's residence and a computer was seized. The computer is currently being
analyzed by forensic investigators at the Miami Valley Crime Lab and further
charges may be considered.


Moore resigned his position with the Preble County Juvenile Court on Aug. 3,
2004.

preservation of law and order turn out to be the predators."

Hey Doug,just incase you are reading this, I remember you. I also think you remember me. I brought one of my sons friends to your office when you called and gave him one hour to be in your office or you would have him arrested. I drove that poor boy to your office as he cried all the way. When we got there you had no secretary or anyone else there and you made me go outside and sit in my car till you "talked" to him. I wondered why you wouldn't let me sit in your waiting room. I just want you to know I have lost contact with the boy but I am looking for him and when I find him and if he conferms what I now believe happened in that office that day, I am going to do everything I can to have him come forword and put you back behind bars. You know I feel a little bit responsible for what I believe you did that day because I drove him there and I went outside and left you alone with him and went outside when you told me too. I don't like that feeling so I am going to try my hardest to have you charged again.

Yeah, I can't believe this stuff. I feel sick knowing all that is going on there in Preble County. I feel spoiled for living here in my society, where things that happen there are unimaginable here. We'll find this guy and we'll put him away.
